Increasing fees for prosecutors

On 4 February 2023, Max Hill tweeted:

As I have just confirmed with @thebarcouncil, we have secured necessary additional funding from @hmtreasury allowing us to press ahead with increases in prosecution fees to restore parity with defence fees. @TheCriminalBar @CPSUK[2]

Lawyers for Nature unsure

Barrister Paul Powlesland of Lawyers for Nature tweeted:

On my way in to the Bar Council meeting this morning, I overheard someone talking about increasing fees for prosecutors. I said we don't want more prosecutors if they will be used to oppress peaceful climate activists. Just found out the person I was talking to was the DPP![3]

Prosecute proper criminals

Patrick Haseldine retweeted:

DPP @MaxHillKC should use the extra funding to prosecute proper criminals who are engaged in #nhsprivatisation for example. @paulpowlesland @LawForNature @drbobgill @premnsikka @CrispinFlintoff[4]
