WikiSpooks is about ready to go.
I have spent ridiculous amounts of time on the finer points of vps Linux/Apache server configuration and security matters, to the point almost of paranoia and greatly diminishing returns. I've also installed and tested many user-enhancement extentions to the MediaWiki software that powers the site. There is what I hope is a pretty solid framework in place with clear documentation on what the project is about and what is currently expected of anyone seeking serious involvement with the site. As it grows, these will no doubt change in proper wiki-consensus fashion - although the core presumption AGAINST authority as a reliable source of deep political information and evidence will not.
There is less reference material up than I would have liked prior to launch but there are a few skeleton example articles and documents that provide a flavour of how I personally see articles / document posts developing. Anyone who has ever edited a Wikipedia article will be comfortable with contributing; anyone who can handle an average word processor will soon pick it up. The finer points of template use, tables and other esoteric formatting need perseverance. Frankly speaking I could do with some techie assistance in the templating area myself - disillusioned Wikipedia editors please note.
Everything has been tested and the anonymous upload facility is properly in place. The development site has been disabled.
As stated in the email that announced this list, my own motivation for starting this can be gleaned from my long-standing but much neglected blog at http://sabretache.net - plus posts on the Deep Politics Forum and the comments sections of blogs too numerous to mention under the pseudonym 'Sabretache'
I don't see WikiSpooks rivaling either Wikipedia or Wikileaks in size or scope - nor any other site for that matter. I don't have that sort of ambition. It is simply my way of getting through the day in this crazy Orwellian world we now inhabit.
Although..... I have this nagging worry that it may turn out to be a little late for this sort of thing: With the confluence of peak just-about-everything manifesting as what must surely be close to the last gasp of the globalised capitalism that most still take as a knee-jerk article of faith, with politicians of every stripe reciting their incessant creed of 'The Recovery', 'Perpetual Growth' (on a finite planet), 'Perpetual Wars' (to protect us from the latest global bogeymen) ad nauseam - maybe we should all be concentrating on building metaphorical lifeboats instead!
Anyway. Anyone for whom this - the Sabretache blog, Cryptome, Wikileaks, Global Research, Media Lens and a host of other sites dedicated to what is REALLY going on in the world - rings bells, is cordially invited to get involved with WikiSpooks. If it does take off I won't be autocratic about it - and you can quote me when the time comes - it will become a shared ownership undertaking in some kind of trusteeship and run according to whatever rules develop - always provided that the core presumption against authority will be maintained and it is NOT run for monetary profit.

PS apologies if you receive this message twice - I have somehow contrived two separate mailing lists and haven't the time to reconcile them.
