Carl Fredrik Konstantin Castrén was a Finnish industrialist who attended the 1983 Bilderberg conference.

Career

Castrén became a graduate engineer in 1952. He was 1956–1960 CEO of the Foundation for Productivity Research and 1958–1960 of the Confederation of Finnish Work, 1960–1963 Deputy CEO and 1963–1967 CEO of Oy Strengberg Ab and 1967–1970 Deputy Director at Oy Nokia Ab. The definitive turning point in Castrén's career came in 1972, when he became CEO of Oy Strömberg Ab. In 1979, Castrén took over the position as CEO of Kymi Kymmene Oy and in 1983–1987 was CEO of the newly formed Kymmene-Strömberg Group (later merged into ABB).

Castrén was chairman of the Central Confederation of Industry and the Finnish Confederation of Industry 1982–1984. He received the honorary title of Vuorineuvos ("mining counselor"), in 1980.
