'Hans Lennart Zetterberg was a Swedish sociologist, editor-in-chief and liberal-conservative thinker[1][2]. Zetterberg became known for his theory that society consists of different spheres, each of which has and should follow its own internal logic.

He attended the 1987 Bilderberg meeting. He was and editor-in-chief of Svenska Dagbladet 1987-88 and chairman of the Committee on the Future for the biggest conservative party, the Moderate Party, 1988-90.

Early years

Hans L. Zetterberg was the son of the director Paul Zetterberg and Gunhild Öhlander.

After graduating in 1947, he studied at the University of Minnesota and Uppsala University.[3]

Career

He was employed at Columbia University in New York as a teacher 1953-54, as a research assistant 1954-57 and as a senior lecturer in sociology 1957-64.

During 1965 and 1966, Zetterberg was head of the Riksbank's anniversary fund.

1967-70 he was chairman of the Department of Sociology at Ohio State University.[4]

In the years 1970–74, he was head of research at Sifo (Swedish Institute for Opinion Research) and then CEO in the years 1975–86.

In 1977, he was awarded an honorary doctorate at Umeå University.

During 1987 and 1988 he was editor-in-chief of Svenska Dagbladet.

In 1988, he was elected to the Academy of Engineering Sciences.

In 1999, he received the Helen Dinerman Award for his work on analytical opinion polls.
