Small Pennsylvania College with lots of influential former students.

Haverford College is a private liberal arts college in Haverford, Pennsylvania. All students of the college are undergraduates and nearly all reside on campus.[1] The college was founded in 1833 by members of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), and although the college no longer has a formal religious affiliation, Quaker philosophy still influences campus life. Its enrollment, as of 2018, was 1,353 students. The college offers Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in 31 majors across humanities, social sciences and natural sciences.

Haverford College is a member of the Tri-College Consortium, which allows students to register for courses at both Bryn Mawr College and Swarthmore College. It is also a member of the Quaker Consortium which allows students to cross-register at the University of Pennsylvania.[2][3]

For most of the 20th century, Haverford's total enrollment was kept below 300. Haverford is a smaller college and has a smaller alumni population than its peers. Because expansion occurred in the 1980s, most of Haverford's alumni are still quite young. Despite this, as of 2010, Haverford alumni include five Nobel Prizes, four MacArthur Fellows, 20 Rhodes Scholarships, 10 Marshall Scholarships, nine Henry Luce Fellowships,[4] 56 Watson Fellowships,[4] two George Mitchell Scholarship, two Carnegie Endowment Junior Fellowships,[4] two Churchill Scholars, one Gates Cambridge Scholar,[4] 13 All Americans, and 23 NCAA post-graduate winners.
