Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex is a member of the British royal family. As the younger son of Charles, Prince of Wales and Diana, Princess of Wales, he is sixth in the line of succession to the British throne.

After a public decision to "step back" as senior members of the royal family in 2020, he lives in the United States with his wife Megan Markle, where they have dedicated themselves to advocating online censorship.

The UK is "too dangerous" for him to visit.

Military Career

Harry entered the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst on 8 May 2005, and joined the Alamein Company. In April 2006, Harry completed his officer training and was commissioned as a Cornet (second lieutenant) in the Blues and Royals, a regiment of the Household Cavalry in the British Army.

He participated in the occupation of Afghanistan, where he did two tours of duty as a lieutenant, as a forward air controller and helicopter gunship pilot.

Statements

In 2020 Harry commented that the COVID-19 Pandemic in the US was "better than we are led to believe through ­certain corners of the media". Piers Morgan tweeted that "Prince Harry, from his Hollywood mansion, accusing the media of exaggerating the scale of this crisis in Britain is contemptible." Karol Sikora asked "What are his qualifications for making these comments — other than deserting his country in its hour of need?" and termed the opinion "outrageous".

Censorship as a "humanitarian issue"

In a January 2021 interview, Prince Harry spoke of his strategy for increased censorship stating:

“in a way, taking a predominately hands-off approach to problems for so long is itself an exercise in power, [...] I think it’s a false choice to say you have to pick between free speech or a more compassionate and trustworthy digital world. They are not mutually exclusive.”

The Prince also revealed how he plans to "use his clout" do to address the problem, which he referred to as "a humanitarian issue" requiring a "humanitarian response". In a 2020 essay, Prince Harry called on business leaders "to rethink their role in funding the advertising system that underlies the misinformation and divisive rhetoric that’s often shared on social platforms."

“This remodeling must include industry leaders from all areas drawing a line in the sand against unacceptable online practices as well as being active participants in the process of establishing new standards for our online world,” he wrote. "We are losing loved ones to conspiracy theories, losing a sense of self because of the barrage of mistruths, and at the largest scale, losing our democracies", the Prince declared.

“In today’s world, we are so connected like a vast nervous system, whether we are online or not. And much like the virus, there are no borders online. So when vaccine misinformation and disinformation spreads, magnified on social media and in parts of traditional media, it exposes a collective threat to humanity. I believe that misinformation is a global humanitarian crisis, and the crisis is getting worse.”

In 2014, Harry launched the Invictus Games a military propaganda exercise "in which wounded, injured or sick armed services personnel and their associated veterans take part in nine sports".

In October 2018, Harry and his wife Meghan Markle founded Archewell Inc., an American public organization that focuses on non-profit activities and creative media ventures.

His estimated personal fortune is £30 million, and he believes that "compassion is the defining cultural force of the 21st century".

Since their departure from the Royal household, Harry and Meghan advocated for gun restriction in the United States, or said words to the effect during interviews. Meghan McCain commented in 2022: "Harry came after the Second Amendment in this country and I believe the First Amendment as well,".
