John Macgregor Bruce Lockhart joined MI6 in 1942 and rose through the ranks to become deputies director.[1][2][3][4]

Family background

John Macgregor Bruce Lockhart's father was John Harold Bruce Lockhart, a famous sportsman, spy, artist and headmaster. His uncle was the spy Sir Robert Hamilton ("R.H.") Bruce Lockhart, KCMG, whose 1932 book, Memoirs of a British Agent, was an international best-seller.

His cousins Rab Bruce Lockhart and Logie Bruce Lockhart went on to become headmasters of Loretto School and Gresham's School. He was father of Sandy Bruce-Lockhart

Career

He left MI6 in 1965 for undisclosed reasons. His obituary recorded him as working for the "Foreign Office, London 1953-65".[1]
