Karl Sevelda is an Austrian bank executive. He was CEO of Raiffeisen Bank International from 2013 to March 2017.[1] He attended the 2015 Bilderberg meetin

Education

From 1968 Sevelda studied at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. He graduated in 1973 with a master's degree in social and economic sciences. In the years that followed until 1976, he carried out freelance research activities for the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research and the Federal Ministry of Trade, Commerce and Industry - he was also an employee of the Economic Policy Institute. In 1980, Sevelda received his doctorate in social and economic sciences.

Banking

From 1977 to 1983 Sevelda was a consultant for commercial loans and export financing in the Creditanstalt-Bankverein, from 1983 to 1985 he was head of economic policy at the office of the Federal Minister for Trade, Commerce and Industry, Norbert Steger. In 1985 he worked in banks in reat Britain and the United States. After his return in 1986 he switched again to the Creditanstalt-Bankenverein. Until the company was privatized in 1997, he was Head of Export Finance, Deputy Head of Finance, Head of International Groups and Insurance and Head of Corporate Customers.

In 1998 Sevelda switched to Raiffeisen Bank and was a member of the board there. As this he was responsible for the business areas "Corporate Banking and Corporate" as well as "Trade and Export Finance" worldwide. Between 2010 and 2013 he was Deputy Chairman of the Board of Raiffeisen Bank International. After the resignation of Herbert Stepic, Sevelda was CEO of Raiffeisen Bank International from June 7, 2013. His contracts ran until 2017.[2] In March 2017, Johann Strobl succeeded him as CEO of Raiffeisen Bank International.

Private Life

Sevelda is married for the second time, has a daughter from her first marriage and a grandchild. He has three siblings, one of his two brothers is Paul Sevelda, gynecologist and President of the Austrian Cancer Aid.

He was always politically liberal. He was one of the founding members of the party Liberal Forum around Heide Schmidt and, in addition to his job at the bank, worked as a speaker at the “Vienna State Forum”. After the fusion in 2014, Sevelda sympathizes with the newly founded party NEOS[2].
