In office
13 December 2019 - Present

Kim Johnson (born August 1960) is Liverpool's first black MP.

She has been an active community campaigner and member of the Labour Party for some time - but hadn't expected she would be heading into December preparing to be a new Member of Parliament for the area where she grew up.

Kim Johnson was selected in a quickfire process after the winter General Election was called and following news that long-serving Liverpool Riverside MP Louise Ellman had quit the Labour Party and would be leaving politics altogether.

Kim Johnson received 41,170 votes (78%) which was ten times the vote of Tory challenger Sean Malkeson who received 4,127 (7.8%).[1]
