Career

"Martin Chamberlain QC specialises in Administrative & Public Law, Human Rights, EU and Public International Law. He also acts in commercial and employment cases. In 2016, he was named by Chambers & Partners as Human Rights and Public Law Silk of the Year and by Legal 500 as Public Law Silk of the Year. Martin acts and advises in judicial review and human rights claims for both claimants and defendants. For claimants, his work ranges from human rights claims on behalf of individuals and NGOs to commercial and regulatory judicial review claims and appeals in financial services, environmental law, aviation, healthcare, pensions, pharmaceuticals, tax, telecoms & transport. He has acted both as open counsel and as a Special Advocate in terrorism and other national security cases. For defendants he appears for governmental and other public bodies in public law cases of all kinds including in the fields of education, local government, equality & discrimination and professional regulation. Martin has appeared in 30 cases before the UK Supreme Court/House of Lords and has experience before the European Court of Human Rights (both for applicants and for State respondents) and the Court of Justice of the EU. He has lectured in his areas of specialism in England, Scotland, the US, Canada & Europe, is Vice-Chair of the Constitutional & Administrative Law Bar Association and sits part-time as a Deputy High Court Judge."[1]
