The Service de Documentation Extérieure et de Contre-Espionnage was a French intelligence agency.

Activities

In 1960 the SDECE assassinated Cameroonian independence leader Félix-Roland Moumié in Geneva.

In 1978 Le Monde alleged that "under Marenches' leadership, "terrorism" and also disinformation - the influencing of public opinion - were extensively pursued (by the SDECE)"

Funding

Alfred McCoy wrote in The Politics of Heroin in Southeast Asia that the SDECE financed all of its covert operations during the Indochina War from its control of the Indochina drug trade.
