SOFREP (shortened from Special Operations Forces Report) is a digital news and media website focused on frontline news about United States Armed Forces activities across the globe. Founded in 2012 by Brandon Webb. SOFREP publishes coverage and news stories sourced from Naval, Army, Air Force and Marine Corps veterans and special forces operators.[1][2]

Brandon Tyler Webb

Brandon Tyler Webb (born June 12, 1974) is a former United States Navy SEAL and SEAL Sniper course Head Instructor, with one combat deployment to Afghanistan and one to the Persian Gulf. Webb is the Founder and CEO of Hurricane Group Inc, which includes sofrep.com, The Load Out Room, sofrep radio, the SpecOps Channel on YouTube, Crate Club, Cuna Dog and Continuum. Webb is also a media commentator on snipers and related Special Operations Forces military issues.[3]

2018 Controversy

SOFREP was at the center of controversy in 2018 when they published an ISIS propaganda video on Youtube, replacing the ISIS watermark with their own, and spurring backlash from some in the special operations community.[4] SOFREP defended the decision by making clear that this was to show what war looks like.[5]
