Siamak Namazi is an Iranian-American academic and business consultant who was sentenced to 10 years prison in 2016 for "collaboration with hostile government”[1].

By 2003, Ziamak Namazi was managing director of Tehran-based Atieh Bahar Consulting, an adviser to companies such as BP Plc, HSBC Holdings Plc and Alcatel. [2] After 2007, he lived in the United Arab Emirates, but visited Iran frequently.[1]

He was a Reagan-Fascell Fellow at the National Endowment for Democracy between November 2005 and March 2006 (5 months), and Public Policy Fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars between July 2005 and October 2005 (4 months).[1]

He was selected a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2007.

Siamak presented a study on the medical implications of the US sanctions on Iran at the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington DC in February 2013.[1]

Arrested in 2015, in October 2016, Ziamak Namazi, his father Baqer Namazi, and four others were each been given 10 years in prison for espionage. The Iranian prosecutor general added that the same has happened for 7 other defendants charged with involvement in the 2009 riots,[3][4][5] in connection with the attempt at regime change during the elections. His elderly fathers sentence was later commuted.[6]
