Distinctive British brand of car.

Vauxhall is a British car manufacturer which been owned by Stellantis since January 2021.

Vauxhall is a sister brand of Opel, and has faced controversies in the early 21st century.

Issues

Emission fixing

Vauxhall was accused of cheating emissions tests.[1] They face a class action lawsuit.[2] Vauxhall could potentially end up giving one million drivers a pay-out worth as much as £2,500 each.[3]

Spontaneous fires

There are examples of Vauxhall Zafiras spontaneously combusting. By shear stroke of luck, no deaths have been reported.

From 2015, vehicle fires received media attention. The Vauxhall Zafira is an extremely common family-sized car in Great Britain. In December 2015, safety officials in the UK asked Vauxhall to initiate a full safety recall of the model Zafira B, due to a worrying level of car fires apparently or alleged to have been caused by 'Improper Repairs'.[4] In 2019, about 235,000 Zafira B vehicles manufactured between 2005 and 2014 were recalled again.[5]

In 2018, an investigation was launched into the vehicle fires in Britain.[6]

In January 2020, a Vauxhall Zafira caught fire in Norway and destroyed over 200 to 300 cars in an airport car park.[7]

In late 2020, Zafiras are still spontaneously catching fire.[8]
