Virginia Bottomley, Baroness Bottomley of Nettlestone, (née Garnett) is a British Conservative Party politician. She was a Member of Parliament (MP) for South West Surrey from 1984 to 2005, when her cousin Jeremy Hunt inherited the constituency. Virginia was then ennobled and became Baroness Bottomley of Nettlestone.[1]

She now lobbies on behalf of the private health sector, was a director of BUPA between 2007-2013 and currently Smith and Nephew. Previously she was a member of the Supervisory Board of Akzo Nobel NV from 2000–12, and is a Trustee of the Economist.

As part of her pro-bono activities, Baroness Bottomley is Chancellor of the University of Hull. She was a Governor of the London School of Economics for 31 years. She is a member of the UK Advisory Council of the International Chamber of Commerce. She is Chair of Board Practice at executive head-hunting firm Odgers Berndtson where she has been since 2000.

Baroness Bottomley is the aunt of former Labour MP Tristram Hunt, whom she head-hunted to become Director of London's Victoria and Albert Museum in December 2016.[2]
