Antifa is a phrase used to describe a range of things. As a group, they engage in doxing, harassment, violence, and property damage against what they define as the alt-right. Their destructive tactics that alienate and discredit other protesters and the curious lack of police charges, points to a high level of infiltration. Antifa activists have a high activity level in Wikipedia, giving them the power to defame and marginalize by defining people as right-wing extremists.

Their choice of opponents is interesting, often aligning with official narratives by focusing on combating conspiracy theorists and by 2021, opponents of the COVID-19 coup d'etat or mandatory vaccination.

Official narrative

The American antifa movement grew after the 2016 United States presidential election of Donald Trump, but corporate media and deep state politicians insist that Antifa is only an idea. In July 2020, FBI Director Christopher A. Wray testified to the Senate Judiciary Committee that the agency "considers antifa more of an ideology than an organization"[1].

Three August 2020 Department of Homeland Security draft reports did not mention antifa as a domestic terrorism risk.[2]

Official opposition narrative

Antifa is a left-wing, anti-fascist and anti-racist political movement, both in the United States and other Western countries. As a highly decentralized array of leaderless groups, antifa uses both nonviolent and violent direct action to achieve its aims rather than policy reform.[3] Much of antifa political activism is nonviolent, involving poster and flyer campaigns, mutual aid, speeches, protest marches, and community organizing.[4]They also engage in protest tactics, seeking to combat fascists and racists such as neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and other far-right extremists. Antifa's willingness to directly confront far-right activists (and in some cases, law enforcement) is a departure from other leftist opposition movements. This confrontation sometimes involves digital activism, doxing, harassment, physical violence, and property damage against those they identify as belonging to the far right.

Black Block

Since the anti-World Trade OrganizationBattle of Seattle” in 1999, gangs of young, masked street fighters have been highly visible international protests. These are broadly known as the Black Block, in reference to their dress code of black clothing, ski masks, scarves, sunglasses, motorcycle helmets, or other face-concealing items to conceal wearers' identities and hinder criminal prosecution by making it difficult to distinguish between participants. Their tactics, which concentrate on the destruction of property, is a strategy of tension designed to create violence between the larger protests, the majority which don't agree with the violent tactics, and police. Over the years, many exposures have revealed many members of the Black block as agents provocateurs[5].

COVID

During demonstration against COVID-measures in Germany during autumn 2020, antifa was prominent in counter-demonstrations, to define and marginalize COVID-protesters as right-wing extremists [6], reinforcing the official narrative[7]. The message also meshed seamlessly with the storming of the Reichstag false flag event, a concurrent actual small right-wing demonstration.[8][9]

In November 2021, Antifa clashed with opponents of mandatory vaccinations in New York City. One journalist on Twitter recorded a confrontation between the two sides that included one person called the anti-vaccine mandate protesters "Nazi scum."[10]

Easier than attacking power

The bourgeois-urban milieu, mostly settled and tending towards socio-ecological ideas do not really dare to stand openly against the power elites. They also do not question capitalism as the frame of reference for all political action. On the other hand, they would like to continue to be critical and maintain their self-image as a moral avant-garde. The left-wing intellectual “center” escapes this dilemma primarily through an anti-fascist furor, which on the one hand allows it to remain adapted and, on the other hand, to stage itself as a kind of resistance cell against an impending new right-wing radicalism. The latter, however, never refers to the perpetrators of the ruling machinery of war and exploitation, but rather victims of the system and marginalized people who, in a state of disorientation, join certain ideas that are considered incorrect. Ideas that, for example, are not migration-friendly and pro-feminist in the desired way.[11]
