Brian Franks joined the SAS.

In late March or April 1963, Franks met with the UK Foreign Secretary Alec Douglas-Home, Aviation Minister Julian Amery, Neil McLean in the gentleman's club White's and arranged an unofficial UK covert operation against the Egyptian-backed government of the Yemen.
