Federal Minister for Post and Communication

As Federal Minister for Post and Communication (1982-1992) and chairman of the Research Committee on New Information and Communication Technology (basic data transfers and mailboxes were available at the time) he led the privatisation and dissection of the until then state-owned Deutsche Bundespost including introduction of private TV channels, GSM standart for mobile phones, mail, telefone and the soon to come internet.
