Christina Markus Lassen was Danish Ambassador to Syria 2009-2012, including when the 2011 regime change proxy war started. She was the head of the Delegation of the European Union to Lebanon in 2015. In 2019 she became Political Director in the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, before becoming Ambassador to the United States in September 2022.

Education

She holds a Master’s of Science in International Relations from the Copenhagen Business School 1990-1997, including a year studying foreign policy at the American University in Washington DC in 1993. In 2012 she was a fellow at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs, Harvard University.[1]

Career

She began her career at the Danish ministry of Foreign affairs in Copenhagen in 1997, and did stints in the embassy in Washington and as Special Advisor to the Prime Minister's Office (Middle East and Transatlantic Affairs)[2].

She became Ambassador of Denmark to Syria and Jordan in 2009, interestingly at the same time as the NATO-instigated 2011 regime change proxy war started.

She worked in the Foreign Ministry's Department for Security Policy and Stabilization 2014-2015.

She was Ambassador and Head of the European Union delegation to Lebanon in from 2015 to 2019, when she became Political Director (Vice Director) in the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In September 2022 she became Danish Ambassador to the U.S.[3]
