Career

Schiphol Airport

Schiphol Airport is the main airport in the Netherlands and the 3rd biggest of Europe in terms of passengers with 71 million travellers yearly.[1] It has over 495,000 air traffic movements, moves over 1,9 million metric ton of cargo a year and over 320 destinations.[2] It is a major entrepôt for drug and weapons smuggling, and a central part of many dark government activities.

Illegal drug trade

Benschop as state secretary for foreign affairs was already facing scrutiny for the leading role of Rotterdam and Schiphol Airport in the drug trafficking. Benschop was send to Italy in 2000 after calls from Italy (suffering from a surge of Dutch XTC related deaths), after his Italian counterpart Brutti called for the Netherlands to be kicked out of the Schengen agreement which granted free travel of people between the European countries.[3]

Chair of Tafelronde

Benschop also had a role in the technological advancement of controversial privacy security measures such as face scanning at Schiphol Airport and its failure to stop the leading dutch Illegal drug trade throughout Europe at the start of the EU. Benschop attended the WEF meeting in 2020.
