The media profile of former minister Lieutenant Colonel The Right Honourable Tobias Ellwood has increased as a result of COVID-19. A recent interview of his on Sky News regarding the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine has raised a few eyebrows.

I FEEL it necessary to point out that I am not related to Tobias Ellwood, chairman of parliament’s Defence Committee, lieutenant colonel of the 77th Brigade, arch Remainer, supporter of lockdowns, jab enthusiast and warmonger.

Unlike that American-born polymath who was schooled in Bonn and Vienna, the writer of this article is aware of his limitations, and his equivalent education occurred in Fleetwood and Blackpool. This Ellwood has never sought to climb the greasy pole of politics, is contemptuous of the domestic terrorism of the 77th Brigade, is pro-Brexit, anti-lockdowns and will never get the experimental, life-devastating clot shot.

Earlier this week the other Ellwood was interviewed on Sky News. In the clip I saw, the crazed-looking MP for Bournemouth East demonstrated a manic stupidity. In the space of 14 seconds he declared: ‘We are now at war in Europe . . . we are involved with that . . . we need to move to a war footing . . . we need to face Russia directly rather than let Ukraine do all the work.’

I have never been so incensed by a political interview.

No, you cretin, ‘we’ are not at war in Europe. No, you simpleton, ‘we’ do not need to move to a war footing. No, you moron, ‘we’ do not need to face Russia directly.

You have no mandate and there is no casus belli.

Why would it have been so hard for Ellwood to say this: ‘We want peace in Europe . . . we are involved with that . . . we want to trade with Russia . . . we want to build mutual respect and we want happiness and prosperity for all Ukrainians’?

The situation in Ukraine has been discussed here multiple times. I believe that the provocateurs were the US, Nato and the European Union egged on by the usual suspects in the WEF, military-industrial complex and sinister oligarchs/billionaires. Foolishly, the tyrant Putin, no doubt supported by his own nasty oligarchs, swallowed their bait and millions are suffering the consequences.

But what right has the disgusting Ellwood to tell the people of the United Kingdom that this is their conflict? Come to that, what right has the Defence Secretary, the equally idiotic Ben Wallace, say that ‘war is coming’ within seven years? (It must be part of the UN’s Global Goals, Agenda 2030).

Not that we ever needed reminding, but the WhatsApp messages about the response to Covid-19 confirm the chaotic decision-making processes in government and the despotic tendencies of our elected representatives and the civil service. The Social Contract, if it ever existed, has been torn up to be used as toilet paper.

As George Galloway eloquently questioned in an Oxford Union debate on February 9: ‘Are you prepared to go off and fight and die for the question of whether Kupiansk is on one side of a line when it’s been on four in the last hundred years?’

The answer to Ellwood and his scurrilous ilk must be a resounding ‘NO’.

I recall the contempt expressed by Rudyard Kipling for our parliamentarians in his poem Pagett, MP, the first and last verses of which are:

“Pagett, MP, was a liar, and a fluent liar therewith –

He spoke of the heat of India as the ‘Asian Solar Myth’; Came on a four months’ visit, to ‘study the East,’ in November, And I got him to sign an agreement vowing to stay till September.

And I laughed as I drove from the station, but the mirth died out on my lips As I thought of the fools like Pagett who write of their ‘Eastern trips’, And the sneers of the travelled idiots who duly misgovern the land,

And I prayed to the Lord to deliver another one into my hand.”
Rudyard Kipling (1889)  [1]

Nothing changes. We are governed by contemptible fools and liars.
