Elisabeth Mohn (née Beckmann) is a German billionaire businesswoman, and widow of Reinhard Mohn. Liz Mohn represents the fifth generation of the family that founded and continues to play a leading role at the Bertelsmann media group, and also of the big Bertelsmann Foundation which wants to "reform" the economy and society.

Mohn is a friend of Angela Merkel. The friendship predates Merkel’s tenure as chancellor, and they met regularly in private during her tenure. Liz Mohn also sends Merkel letters, sharing personal thoughts and insights she has gleaned from foundation events.[1]
