Independent girls' school in Oxford

Headington School is an independent girls' school in Headington, Oxford, England, founded by a group of evangelical Christians in 1915. The Good Schools Guide called Headington "A delightful school, [which] nurtures and entertains its pupils while at the same time achieving excellent academic results... fun and stimulating to be at."[1]

The Headington School was founded in 1915 by a group of Christian clergy. Their aim was to expand women's education in the aftermath of World War I and to provide better education for girls. The school was first called Headington Lodge on Osler Road in Oxford. At that time the school had eight residential dormitories. As the school rapidly expanded after the war, more buildings were bought and added to the school.
