Arvey was a political fixer for the Democrats in Chicago and key figure in the Chicago Outfit and the Supermob, the extended criminal network composed mainly of Jewish and Italian mobsters and businessmen who rose to power thanks to the corruption within the city of Chicago before expanding to other areas of the country.[1][2]
