Lodewijk J. R. de Vink is a Dutch-American Big Pharma-executive.[1]

Education

He took a Bachelor of Business Administration from Washburn University in 1968 and a Master of Business Administration from the American University, Netherlands School of Business in 1969.[1]

Career

He stared his career for Big Pharma in 1969, when he was hired by Schering-Plough, where he worked until 1988. From 1988 until 2000 he worked for Warner-Lambert Company, as Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer 1999-2000.[1] In the end of the 1990s, Warner–Lambert formed an alliance with Pfizer to bring its statin drug Lipitor to market. Lipitor, launched in January [[1997], became the largest-selling pharmaceutical of any kind worldwide, reaching $1B in domestic sales within its first twelve months on the market.[2] The company merged with Pfizer in 2000.[3]

2000-2002 he worked for Credit Suisse First Boston as Chairman of Global Health Care Partners. Since 2003 Founding member and consultant for Blackstone Healthcare Partners, LLC.

Board memberships

He has been a board member of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA; Chairman in 1995), The International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Associations (IFPMA; Chairman 1998-1999), Trilateral Commission, The Business Roundtable, The French American Business Council, Royal Ahold; Verizon, U.S.-Chair of the 1998 TransAtlantic Business Dialogue (TABD). In 1990 he was appointed to the President's Export Council.[1]

He is a member of Sotheby's International Advisory Board, a member of European Advisory Council of Rothschild & Cie and a member of the Board of Directors of the New York Philharmonic.
