French-Jewish business family of the large grain merchant Louis-Dreyfus Group

TheLouis-Dreyfus is a French-Jewish business family, descendant of Léopold Louis-Dreyfus (1833-1915), founder in 1851 of the grain merchant Louis-Dreyfus Group and of the shipping company Louis Dreyfus Armateurs.

By the early 20th century, the Louis-Dreyfus family was described as one of the "top five biggest fortunes of France".

Along with Archer Daniels Midland, Bunge, and Cargill, the Louis-Dreyfus Group is one of the four "ABCD" companies that dominate world agricultural commodity trading.[1]
