Maarten C. Brands was Professor of Modern and Theoretical History at the University of Amsterdam when he attended the 1992 Bilderberg.

Brands was on the board for discussion about Instruments of International Cooperation, in 2009 at an event in Boston, USA, a session which was keynoted by fellow Bilderberger, Wolfgang Ischinger. The other section was keynoted by Alain Juppé, who himself would later attend a Bilderberg meeting. Another speaker was Michael Mertes (son of Alois Mertes who attended both Bilderberg and Le Cercle).[1]
