Australian-American media mogul who uses his power as part of the deep state.

Keith Rupert Murdoch is an Australian-American media magnate.[1] In the 1950s and '60s, Rupert Murdoch acquired various newspapers in Australia and New Zealand, before expanding into the United Kingdom in 1969, taking over the News of the World followed closely by The Sun, and finally to the United States from the 1970s onwards.

Murdoch is not merely an independent "conservative" propagandist, but an deep state operative deliberately installed by British and US intelligence services to program public opinion.

In September 2023, it was reported that Murdoch was stepping down as Chair of Fox and News Corp and would be succeeded by his son Lachlan Murdoch.[2]

Background

Murdoch became managing director of Australia's News Limited, inherited from his father Sir Keith Arthur Murdoch in 1952. Rupert Murdoch is the founder, chairman and CEO of global media holding company News Corporation, the world's second-largest media conglomerate, and its successors News Corp and 21st Century Fox after the conglomerate split on 28 June 2013.[3][4][5][6]

Entrepreneur

All big entrepreneurs have the stink of unpopularity around them. Whether it is through envy or sincere distaste, Donald Trump, James Goldsmith, Rupert Murdoch, Robert Maxwell and Richard Branson have all become popular figures of hate.[7]

Media ownership

Murdoch was running The Australian, a failed national newspaper, while Ted Shackley was CIA station chief in Australia. At the time, Murdoch was facing the likely closure of his newspaper The Australian.

In the run-up to the 1972 election, Murdoch's paper The Australian was a keen Whitlam supporter, donating some $75,000 in free advertising. By 1975, with Peer de Silva, John Denley Walker and Milton Wonus CIA station chiefs, Murdoch had turned savagely against the Labor government, to the extent there were demonstrations outside The Australian's Sydney offices. Murdoch's role was part of a longer-term CIA operation to destroy Labor's powerful leftwing and install Bob Hawke and his CIA-affiliated cronies in the NSW Right faction, who hosted Bernie Houghton and the CIA front Nugan Hand Bank. Shackley and Walker particularly despised Whitlam who had tolerated the left and believed in Australia's sovereignty.[8]

In 1981, he bought The Times, his first British broadsheet. Murdoch did the same political work in Britain, switching his support from the Conservative Party to the Labour Party in 1997. The Labour Party followed a right-wing agenda after they came to power. A senior Blair aide, Lance Price, reported in his memoirs that Blair always consulted with Murdoch before announcing any major policy decision. In 1986, keen to adopt newer electronic publishing technologies, Murdoch consolidated his UK printing operations in Wapping, causing bitter industrial disputes.

He moved to New York City in 1974 to expand into the US market, but retained interests in Australia and Britain. The link to Ted Shackley explains how when he suddenly he became a US citizen literally overnight, to satisfy the legal requirement for US television ownership, and went on an endless buying spree. This also explains why Murdoch was allowed to break all the rules in acquisition of media in America. His News Corporation acquired Twentieth Century Fox (1985), HarperCollins (1989)[9], and the Wall Street Journal in 2007.

He formed the British broadcaster BSkyB in 1990, and during the 1990s expanded into Asian networks and South American television. By 2000, Murdoch's News Corporation owned over 800 companies in more than 50 countries with a net worth of over $5 billion.

FOX & Trump

An interesting relation of Murdoch was the one with Donald Trump. At one point during the results of the 2020 US Presidential election, Trump called Murdoch and screamed at him for letting Fox News call the state of Arizona too early in his view.[10] Journalist Michael Wolff released a controversial book which also has an interesting passage about Trump and Murdoch.

“Murdoch suggested that taking a liberal approach to H-1B visas, which open America's doors to select immigrants, might be hard to square with his promises to build a wall and close the borders. But Trump seemed unconcerned, assuring Murdoch, 'We'll figure it out.' "What a fucking idiot," said Murdoch, shrugging, as he got off the phone.”
Michael Wolff (2018)  [11]

Phone Hacking

In July 2011, Rupert Murdoch faced allegations that his companies, including the News of the World, owned by News Corporation, had been regularly hacking the phones of celebrities, royalty and public citizens. He faces police and government investigations into bribery and corruption by the British government and FBI investigations in the US.[12][13] On 21 July 2012, Murdoch resigned as a director of News International.[14][15] On July 1, 2015, Murdoch left his post as CEO of 21st Century Fox.[16]
