Canadian aluminum industry executive. Attended Bilderberg/1971.

Paul H. Leman was a Canadian business executive. He was Chief Executive Officer of Alcan Aluminum Limited.[1][2]

Education

Paul Leman studied at Collège Ste-Marie, in the University of Montreal and the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration.

Career

He was admitted to the Quebec Bar in 1937, and joined the Alcan Aluminum group of companies in 1938. He held several positions there before becoming president of the parent company, Alcan Aluminum Ltd, from 1972 to 1977, and was then vice-chairman of the board of directors until his retirement in 1979, remaining on the board until 1985.

He was on the boards of several other large companies, including BCE, the International Paper Company of Canada and Crédit Foncier Franco-Canadien.

In addition, he was a member of the Royal Commission on Banking and Finance (1962-64).

He was also active with many charitable, educational or social organizations. In 1974, he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada.
