Rehiana Ali is a British physician of Pakistani/Kashmiri descent who has been a consultant neurologist since January 2021.[1]

She stood as an Independent in the Bradford South constituency at the UK/General election/2024, coming sixth behind Labour, Reform UK, Conservatives, LibDems and Greens with 3,345 votes (10.1%).[2]

Justice for Farooq

“Everything I have achieved – Cambridge University, a PhD, a Consultant Neurology post, my sister Yasmin’s legal career – no small feat from our background – was largely due to this brother of mine. We are heartbroken, but the Pakistani authorities need to understand that we will not be giving up.”

Dr Rehiana Ali, sister of Bradford-born and Imperial College London graduate Farooq Ali, says her brother was murdered at a hotel in Islamabad, but the truth is being covered up by the Pakistani authorities.

Farooq Ali, 44, from Bradford, had been staying at Ramada by Wyndham Hotel in Islamabad for 11 months when he was found dead on 16 March 2022. Pakistani authorities, says Dr Ali, have “failed to carry out a proper and thorough investigation” despite her numerous attempts to find the reason behind her brother’s death.

"We need our MPs to step up – my MP is Richard Burgon, my parents’ MP is Judith Cummins and my sister’s is Naz Shah. Imran Hussain is another Kashmiri MP for Bradford East.

“Remarkably, despite the last nine-months and the seriousness of the case, this issue has not been raised in the House of Commons to demand cooperation from Pakistani authorities. When the letter writing doesn’t work – and it clearly hasn’t – other avenues have to be tried.

“We want the truth of what happened to Farooq on 11 or 12 March 2022. Those responsible for his murder must be held to account.”[3]

Justice for Rehiana

Dr Rehiana Ali was suspended in December 2024 by the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) following complaints by the Israel lobby about social media posts on Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza. The interim suspension, lasting 18 months and subject to review, prevents her from practising medicine pending a full investigation by the General Medical Council (GMC).

On 26 December 2024, she posted on X:

"I've been punished for a perfectly legal political comment, and for opposing Israeli lobbies and Israeli crimes.
"It's a travesty that @gmcuk and @the_mpts buckled rather than protect a doctor from vexatious harassment...over 8 lobbies I think and countless articles over the last 6 weeks.
"I stand by my tweets. I will not bow to demons."[4]

Petition

On 18 February 2025, a CitizenGO petition was raised "Calling for the GMC to reinstate Dr Rehiana Ali to the Medical Register". By 1 June 2025, the petition had gained over 3,650 signatures.[5]

Dr Rehiana Ali BA MB BChir (Cantab) MA MRCP PhD is a Consultant Neurologist with over 20 years’ experience in the NHS. Her qualifications, expertise and impeccable record of service are a credit to her as a person and a great benefit to her patients, to the NHS, and indeed to our nation.
Horrified by the genocide in Gaza, Dr Ali stood as an independent candidate in the parliamentary elections in July 2024, securing 10.1% of the votes, despite the suddenness of the election, which left only 5 weeks to campaign. Dr Ali stood on a wide-ranging manifesto related to domestic issues - including proper funding of the NHS and protection of free speech - but which also included a call for an immediate end to the collective punishment and extermination of the people of Gaza.
On 20th December 2024 Dr Ali was given an 18-month suspension by the General Medical Council/ MPTS, a judgement delivered without proper process or investigation. Was Dr Ali’s suspension related to complaints from patients or from members of the public? Certainly not.
This draconian and particularly punitive suspension was imposed following an ongoing campaign of harassment by a range of Jewish organisations and Israeli pressure groups who have been targeting Dr Ali for her principled stand in opposition to one of the most unspeakable evils of our time. To its credit, three of their previous “complaints” were dismissed by the GMC. The organisations in question include the UK Jewish Medical Association (JMA), UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI), the Community Security Trust (CST) and GnasherJew. There has been a corresponding coordinated attack on Dr Ali in the Jewish media including Jewish News, the Jewish Chronicle, the Jerusalem Post, with back-up from Jewish/ pro-Israel journalists at the Daily Telegraph, as well as political interference from the Health Secretary, Wes Streeting, who is himself seriously compromised by having received funding from the Israeli lobby.
Needless to say UKLFI and Gnasherjew are lobby groups which exist to further the interests of a foreign power, and to target anyone who questions or criticises the Israeli regime, or the behaviour of Jews in the Holy Land, and extremist Jews and their supporters here in the UK. It beggars belief that the GMC is kow-towing to the malicious demands of these groups, rather than protecting the rights of UK doctors and responding to the concerns of UK patients. The very idea that Jewish or Israeli organisations can arm-twist prestigious organisations like the GMC in order to prevent someone like Dr Ali from practising is a cause of gravest concern. This abuse of the complaints system is absolutely intolerable, demonstrating the extent to which Jewish privilege is allowed to dictate who is and who is not allowed to practise as a doctor here in the UK. This must be opposed by all right-thinking people. The targeting of Dr Ali is the opposite of justice, and is, quite frankly, known more commonly as lawfare.
Since the unlawful suspension, Jewish groups and individuals have been celebrating their “success” on social media and have been issuing Dr Ali with threats.
This Petition has been created to call for the immediate re-instatement of Dr Ali. It also calls for a commitment from the GMC that it will uphold its mission to promote and protect the interests of doctors and patients, and not indulge the malicious and vengeful tactics of groups and indeed individuals who wish to silence and persecute NHS doctors and staff and other public servants. In an age of social media it is perfectly legitimate for – one might say incumbent upon – people to exercise their inalienable right to express publicly their views on any matter of interest, and in this case their revulsion at a genocide, and the ongoing persecution of the Palestinian people.

High Court case

On The Crispin Flintoff Show on 1 June 2025, Dr Ali announced that she is bringing a case against the GMC at the High Court on 10 July 2025. She has prepared a 191-page submission and is expected to be represented in Court by Yasmin Ali, her lawyer sister.[6]
