The right to a fair trial was widely accepted in the 20th century as an important legal principle. This is no longer the case.

Abrogation

The "war on terror" has seen the purported right to a fair trial eroded or completely abandoned in many countries.

UK

"Suspected terrorists" in the UK may now be subjected to secret trials. Statistics about how many people have been affected by such secret trials are understandably scare.

US

Since the NDA 2012, the US executive has claimed the right to assassinate anyone, without the need to bother with a trial. Chris Hedges led an unsuccessful legal challenge to this, on grounds that it was unconstitutional.[1], but the result
