The High Commissioner of New Zealand to the United Kingdom is New Zealand's foremost diplomatic representative in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and in charge of New Zealand's diplomatic mission in the United Kingdom.
Given New Zealand's history, this is the most important diplomatic post, with a significant military and intelligence function. The High Commissioner will have a deep state background, without this always showing fully in his or her official biography.
The ambassador to Washington is the only diplomatic post of similar importance.
