Mayor of important meeting place and seat for international organizations.

The Mayor of Geneva in Switzerland is elected each year from among the members of the Administrative Council of Geneva, the city's executive. His or her power is the same as that of other Councillors, but with a more extensive role.

The office of mayor is therefore assigned by the Geneva Administrative Council to one of its members, according to a principle of annual rotation. The mayor takes office on June 1. The Mayor is not eligible for immediately re-election.[1]
