UK press baron

Jonathan Harold Esmond Vere Harmsworth, 4th Viscount Rothermere inherited a newspaper and media empire at the age of 30 on the death of his father Vere Harmsworth in 1998.[1]

Career

Jonathan Harmsworth, better known as Lord Rothermere, is the chairman of Daily Mail and General Trust (DMGT), formerly Associated Newspapers founded by his great-grandfather Harold Sidney Harmsworth, which owns newspapers including the Daily Mail, the Mail on Sunday and Metro.[2]

Activities

In 2013 Private Eye reported that Harmsworth falsely claims non-dom status, in order to avoid paying tax on his stately home, Ferne House. This move saves him several millions of pounds in tax annually.[3]
