==Additional Information==

The Wikipedia '''Omar Khadr''' page is a particularly egregious example of the insidious ''[[Project:Definitions|Official Narrative]]''-supporting nature of [[Wikipedia]].

Anyone visiting that page will immediately be drawn to the photograph and its accompanying caption information. For the casual visitor, if they read anything at all, that is pretty much guaranteed to be it. For everyone else it is likely to be the first (ie most important) impression.

'''In summary the impression is that Khadr is aged 24, Alleged to be a member of al-Qaeda and has been convicted of war crimes and terrorism.'''. Whilst much of the background to this summary is covered in the rest of what is a detailed article, in most cases that is likely to be the over-riding impression they are left with.

*nothing about his having been a 15 years old child when his alleged 'Offences' took place

*nothing about his gross, extended torture and mis-treatment over 8 years in mostly solitary confinement

*nothing about a 'plea-bargain' agreement that offered him the prospects of either freedom in a few years if he pleaded guilty; or incarceration for life if he did not

*Nothing about the nature of the so-called 'legal process' that prosecuted the alleged offences

*nothing about the assumption underlying that process: that it was legal for US soldiers to attack and kill Khadr's uncle and others in an ambush in their own country - but illegal for them to fight back and return fire

- plus a good few other examples of the posturing, sanctimonious viciousness of [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Star-Spangled_Banner#Lyrics "The land of the free and the home of the brave"].

Much of the above IS contained in the body of the article; but the vast majority of visitors to that page will pigeon-hole Khadr as a ''"convicted terrorist and war criminal"'' and move on.

Censorship Spin  The Wikipedia page has been improved since 2011, but minimises his abominable torture and mistreatment over 8 years of mostly solitary confinement. It takes a credulous attitude to the 'plea-bargain' that offered him freedom in a few years if he pleaded guilty - or incarceration for life otherwise. It fails to scrutinize the nature of the 'legal process' that prosecuted the alleged offences, and doesn't question the assumption that US soldiers can legally go abroad and ambush Khadr's family members, but that returning fire was illegal.
