Dr. Malcolm Kendrick is a Scottish doctor and author who has written extensively, and with humour, on a number of other medical dogmas.

He is particularly known for challenging the dogma that cholesterol causes cardiovascular disease, which is the rationale for the lucrative mass prescription of statins. Kendrick pointed out that saturated fat has no impact on cardiovascular disease, and that low-fat diets leads to an increase in mortality and cardiovascular events, [1] for which he was attacked as a 'statin-denier'.[2]

In his 2021 book The Clot Thickens, he writes on how cardiovasular disease is a process, where the arrival of a blood clot on the ‘healthy’ arterial wall is what initiates atherosclerotic plaque formation, and where cholesterol plays no part. [3]

Do I really believe that we are heading for some form of totalitarian state, where dissent against the medical 'experts' will be punishable by imprisonment? Well, yes, I do. We are already in a situation where doctors who fail to follow the dreaded 'guidelines' can be sued, or dragged in front of the General Medical Council, and struck off. Thus losing their job, and income.[4]

Overview

Kendrick graduated from medical school in Aberdeen and trained as a General Practitioner in Scotland. He splits his time between General Practice and education. Kendrick set up the online educational system for the European Society of Cardiology, working with the European Commission and also set up the first website for the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) in the UK.[5]

Kendrick is an original member of the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine in Oxford and of The International Network of Cholesterol Sceptics (THINCS). The latter comprises a group of scientists, doctors, and researchers who share the belief that cholesterol does not cause cardiovascular disease. This is the field of medicine for which Kendrick is best known.

"His long-term interest in the epidemiology of cardiovascular disease has resulted in many publications in journals such as the BMJ, Medical Hypotheses, Pulse, and PharmacoEconomics.

His biography was deleted from Wikipedia some time around 2020.[6]

“One of the best games played to ensure that the status quo is disturbed as little as possible, is the use of peer review. In this system you ask aknoledged 'experts' in areas of medicine to review papers that are sent to you journals. Their job is then to decide if said papers are fit to publish. Of course, by definition, anyone who is an 'expert' in an are of medicine will be a supported of whatever dogma holds sway. Most likely, their entire career was built on developing and supporting it.”
