Mary Lockhart is a former Chair of the Scottish Co-operative Party who was elected Labour Party Councillor representing The Lochs ward in West Fife in a by-election on 26 October 2016. The area includes Kelty and Ballingry, where she lives.
Speaking to Kingdom FM News, Cllr Lockhart said there were 3 keys areas she campaigned on: housing, access to a GP appointment and being able to communicate well with the council, and will do her best to get around the whole ward campaigning before the full council election in May 2017.[1]
On the day of her election, Mary Lockhart was pictured with Jeremy Corbyn who was campaigning in Scotland for re-election as Leader of the Labour Party.[2]
On Brexit
Mary Lockhart posted on Facebook:
- The population of London is approximately 8.6 million
- The population of Scotland is approximately 5.35 million.
- 2.26 million Londoners voted to remain part of the EU - 59.9%
- 1.66 million Scots voted to remain part of the EU - 62%
- I hear lots of discussion of how the Scottish majority for remain feel about Brexit, and what the different options there are for moving forward.
- But what is the London majority discussing? I don't know...[3]
