Exposed the extent of Operation Paperclip where the United States federal government and military headhunted German scientists, engineers, doctors and technicians to the United States after World War II

Linda Hunt is a US author and journalist. She is a former CNN reporter. In 1985, in the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, she exposed Operation Paperclip and the extent to which the United States federal government and military headhunted German scientists, engineers, and technicians to the United States after World War II[1]. The expose was expanded to the book Secret Agenda: The United States Government, Nazi Scientists, and Project Paperclip, 1945–1990[2][3] people.

Later coverage Operation Paperclip has had a whiff of a limited hangout, as the focus often is on the engineers (Wernher von Braun) and not on the darker parts of this recruitment program; intelligence people and interrogation (torture) experts, Eastern European collaborators, the medical experts, etc.

Hunt won the Investigative Reporters and Editors Award in 1985.[4] Hunt uncovered her information through what were then recently-declassified government documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act.[5] She is from St. Petersburg, Florida.[6]
