Beforeitsnews.com is a "citizen journalism" website where individuals can provide stories without credentials.[1][2] It has published false information and in general the website seems unreliable.

Sandy Hook

Beforeitsnews reported on the 15th December 2012 that both the father of James Holmes and Adam Lanza were to testify in a Libor manipulation scandal without giving any reliable source for that statement.[3] This baseless claim was spread further via a more mainstream website, examiner.com,[4][5][6][7][8] while it appears to have been deleted from there shortly after.[9]

The story from examiner was also picked up and tweeted by one of the main 'Anonymous' accounts (YourAnonNews) on Twitter at the time.[10]
