Heinrich Oswaldwas a Swiss manager and reformer of the Swiss Army.[1] As manager of the Ringier media group, he attended the 1981 Bilderberg meeting.

Education

Heinrich Oswald attended the Humanistic Gymnasium in Basel. He studied law at the University of Basel and became a Dr. iur in 1941. He was admitted to the bar in 1943.[2]

Career

He first worked in the Federal Department of Economics (1943-1946) in Bern and then joined the food company Knorr, where he held various positions (head of human resources, sales and export manager, marketing director), before becoming General Director in 1966. From 1972 to 1983 he was Chairman of the Board and delegate of the Board of Directors of the Swiss media house Ringier.[2]

Oswald was a Lieutenant colonel, and adjutant, among others with corps commander Alfred Ernst, who strongly influenced him.[2]

Heinrich Oswald became known through the Commission for Questions of Military Education and Training of the army (Oswald Report) set up by Federal Councillor Rudolf Gnägi to modernize the social forms in the army, including dropping the salutation "Herr" for officers.[3]

During his tenure at Ringier, he also founded the Ringier School of Journalism. He retired in 1984 and voluntarily committed suicide in 2008 with the help of a euthanasia organization.[4]
