Lesley Thomson is the former Solicitor General for Scotland, one of the two law officers of the Scottish Government.[1] She stood down in May 2016 "to pursue new challenges."[2]

She has 25 years' experience as a prosecutor, including as district procurator fiscal for Selkirk, district procurator fiscal for Edinburgh, and interim area procurator fiscal for Lothian & Borders, and led on trial advocacy and deaths investigation within COPFS. She was appointed area Procurator Fiscal for Glasgow in May 2008. She is an acknowledged specialist in the prosecution of serious crime, including organised crime and financial crime, and an expert in the proceeds of crime legislation, having authored a textbook on criminal confiscation.[3]

In 2013 she became the first woman to be appointed to Scottish Rugby's board.[4]
