Background

He studied journalism first at Syracuse University, then at Columbia University.

Career

He was a freelance repotrer for the New York Times]] from 1993-1995. He was Deputy Editor, of The City Sun from 1995-1997. In 1997 he founded The Black Star News two colleagues (Mana Kasongo and Ben Otunu) with savings and seed funding from Bill Cosby.

Activities

He petitioned against Sam Kutesa‎ becoming President of the United Nations General Assembly, alleging homophobia and corruption.[1]

He wrote "The Hearts of Darkness, How White Writers Created the Racist Image of Africa."[2]

He teaches journalism regularly.
