Born Inger Gunborg Carlsson on 21 February 1946 in Stockholm, Sweden to parents Einar and Ester Carlsson, Inger Carlsson-Musser moved to Wiesbaden, Germany, in 1966 to study nursing. There she met and married her husband, Harold G. Musser, Jr., and went on to settle in State College, Pennsylvania in 1970, raising two daughters, Lisa Musser Strickland (Samuel) of Pennsylvania Furnace, and Kristina Musser Whitaker (Gary) of State College.

Inger Musser died on 5 February 2011. She was preceded in death by her brother, United Nations Commissioner for Namibia Bernt Carlsson in the Lockerbie bombing of 21 December 1988. She was survived by two brothers, Tore Carlsson of Melbourne, Australia and Rune Carlsson of Stockholm, Sweden.[1]

Her husband, Harold G. Musser, Jr. passed away at home on 30 October 2017.[2]
