City in Northeastern Syria per 2022 occupied by US puppet administration.

Al-Hasakah is the capital city of the al-Hasakah Governorate and it is located in the far Northeastern corner of Syria.[1] With a 2004 census population of 188,160,[2] it is the eighth most-populous city in Syria. Al-Hasakah is predominantly populated by Arabs with large numbers of Kurds, Assyrians and a smaller number of Armenians.

In August 2017, it was reported that a contingent of US Special Forces troops were dropped off in al-Hasakah to spearhead an attack by the Syrian Democratic Forces on the oil-rich region of Deir Ezzor and try to prevent the Syrian Arab Army from regaining military control of that Governorate.[3] Per 2022, the city and the surrounding countryside is controlled by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria,[4], a US puppet government.
