Lars Birger Jonung is a Swedish economist, who is professor emeritus at the Department of Economics at Lund University[1].

Jonung worked at the University of Lund from 1971–1988 and held a professorship in economics from 1987. In the years 1988–2002, Jonung was a professor of economics at the Stockholm School of Economics. He has been an associate researcher in economics at the Institute for Economic History Research (EHF) at the Stockholm School of Economics. He has also worked for the Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs (ECFIN) within the European Commission.

Jonung has participated in several major Swedish and international research projects and investigations.
