The Spanish Department of Homeland Security was subject in June 2018 to covert influence from the Integrity Initiative, as revealed that November by the first Integrity Initiative leak.

Pedro Baños was scheduled to become Director of the Spanish Department of Homeland Security, but after the Integrity Initiative had identified him as a "well known pro-Kremlin voice", it activated its clandestine European wide network of clusters. After a multiplicity of apparently independent voices spoke up against his appointment, using the hashtag "#NoPedroBaños" his appointment was cancelled in favour of Miguel Ángel Ballesteros.
