A witness to the Whitewater affair who reportedly died of a heart attack while in prison in Texas.

James B. McDougal was a key witness to the Whitewater affair.[1][2] He died while awaiting parole.[3]

Death

McDougal reportedly died of a heart attack at the Federal Correctional Facility in Fort Worth, Texas, aged 57. Jim McDougal suffered a heart attack while in solitary confinement. Left alone for too long, when Jim McDougal was taken out of solitary, instead of attempting to defibrillate his heart with equipment on hand at the facility, he was driven over to John Peter Smith hospital, rather than the, closer, Fort Worth Federal Medical Center. It took two days before the Federal Bureau of Prisons admitted that much - the last information released by the Clinton Administration on the matter.[4]

Autopsy

McDougal's autopsy revealed an unusual Prozac level,[5] and questions about other drugs given, including Lasix, which is contraindicated for heart patients.[6]
