Caroline Feraday TV&radio broadcaster daughter of 'expert witness' Alan Feraday

Caroline Feraday (born 25 May 1977) is an English television and radio broadcaster. She is married to media lawyer Mark Lewis and is the daughter of discredited 'expert' forensic witness Alan Feraday.

On 4 January 2013, it was reported that Caroline Feraday's show on BBC London 94.9 was cancelled overnight as part of cost-cutting measures. Although the presenter was in the running for a new show, she was told by text message that she had lost out instead of being informed in person by BBC bosses. A BBC spokesman said:

"We appreciate Caroline and BBC London listeners may be disappointed. However changes to the schedule are a result of the BBC's savings programme agreed with the BBC Trust and have been planned for some time. The editor met with Caroline to discuss the changes."

Now living in Los Angeles, California, Caroline Feraday has hosted shows on 95.8 Capital FM, LBC 97.3, BBC Radio Five Live, BBC London 94.9 and BBC Radio 2. On television, she has presented for Sky News, BBC News, Sky One, GMTV, ITV, Channel 5, The Travel Channel, VH-1, and is the voice of many TV, cinema and radio adverts - from X-Box to Kelloggs.

Private Eye rumbles "Haselnut" and The Ecologist

On 4 February 2013, Caroline Feraday and her husband Mark Lewis made an unprovoked attack on former diplomat Patrick Haseldine and the editor of The Ecologist Oliver Tickell on Twitter by referring to an article published in the current issue of Private Eye magazine:

Mark Lewis, having favorited his wife's tweet and retweeted it to his 3,481 Twitter followers, added his own tweet:

In response to Mr and Mrs Lewis, Patrick Haseldine tweeted:

"BBC sued"

The Twitter exchange that began on 4 February 2014 quickly developed into a discussion of whether in 1993 Lord Chief Justice Taylor had actually banned Alan Feraday from appearing as an expert witness in future trials such as the Lockerbie bombing trial (as the BBC had reported in 1995).

On 5 February 2014, Caroline Feraday tweeted:

Caroline refused to elaborate further but the fact is that the BBC report still maintains LCJ Taylor banned Alan Feraday in 1993, as does The Guardian and lawyer Gareth Peirce.

"Harassed" by "Haselnut"

On 26 February 2014, in response to Patrick Haseldine's email headed "Another Alan Feraday prosecution bites the dust!", Caroline Feraday emailed (copying to Oliver Tickell, John Ashton, Robert Black, Francis Boyle, Frank Duggan, John Coates, Ian Ferguson, Christine Grahame, Stuart Henderson, Julia Hobsbawm, Richard Keen, Morag Kerr, Hans Koechler, Mark Lewis, Kenny MacAskill, Richard Marquise, Steven Raeburn, Robin Ramsay, Buck Revell, Gareth Peirce, Michael Russell, Michael Scharf, Thomas Thurman, Mark Zaid and others):

I have explained this repeatedly and without any confusion.

For these purposes I will explain it one final time.

I am being harassed by Patrick Haseldine.

I have blocked him on Twitter and on my email account. He continues to find ways to harass both me, my professional and social contacts and my family.

Aside from the obvious insanity of his claims, which have no basis in fact outside of his own mentally ill mind, and which I have no intention of being drawn into debating nor would it be proper or reasonable for me to do so...the frequency of his emails and the increasing instability of his sanity are cause for much distress and concern.

On occasion I have been contacted by various weirdos and consider it the downside of a peculiar yet rewarding job. If that's all this was I would brush it aside.

However, this high level of intimidation of me, my contacts, and my family is without reproach and must stop immediately.

I have been incredibly clear. Do not email me. Do not contact me. You have no right to, and your behaviour is unacceptable.

I will add into my police complaint of harassment anyone else who is encouraging this insane bully.

I imagine you'll be as livid as I am that he is sharing your email addresses and email contents openly with strangers, which is a breach of your own rights.

Stop this immediately, it makes you look crazy. Probably because you are, but that's not my problem.

Any reply to this will constitute further harassment and be forwarded directly to the Police automatically without being read.

Radio Broadcasting

Caroline Feraday joined London radio station Capital FM at the age of 18, after studying journalism and earlier stints at BBC Radio Kent and Invicta FM. She spent five years as the Capital's Flying Eye travel reporter on "Foxy's Drivetime" and "Tarrant at Breakfast", and presented "London Chart Show". In 2001 she moved to BBC Radio Five Live to present the travel reports - staying for two years. She then joined London radio station "LBC 97.3" at its relaunch under new owners Chrysalis Group, presenting the flagship "Drivetime Show". However after a series of changes, she moved to the Friday evening programme between 8-10pm until December 2006, when she left the station.

From July 2011, Caroline Feraday presented "Overnight on BBC London 94.9 with Caroline Feraday", live, every Friday from 2am till 6am. She was the main deputy presenter to Nikki Bedi and on rare occasions Ray Khan who both did the Overnight slot Monday to Thursday and Saturday to Sunday respectively since mid-August 2011. The BBC axed the show in January 2013 as part of a cost-cutting exercise.

TV broadcasting

Caroline Feraday made her first appearance on television as a presenter on VH1 in 1998. Since then she has appeared on Sky One, Sky Travel, GMTV, Living TV, ITV Play and the ITV News Channel. She has worked as a showbiz reporter on This Morning on ITV, and was the voice of Channel 4's morning show B4 (daily at 7.00am).

She also co-presented a comedy show entitled Consequently for Carlton Television, and has hosted Capital's "Party in the Park" event in front of 100,000 people, and introduced the Spice Girls at Wembley Stadium. She also covered the 2012 Olympics decision live from Trafalgar Square for London TV. From 2007-09, she presented morning news bulletins for BBC South East on BBC Breakfast. She now presents shows on Thomas Cook TV.

She occasionally appears on Five TV's The Wright Stuff as a panellist.

She has also appeared as a contestant on Anne Robinson's The Weakest Link.

Feraday presented The Mint on ITV Play and ITV. She is now a reporter on BBC South East.

Personal life

Caroline Feraday was romantically involved with the comedian Frank Skinner and is mentioned frequently in his autobiography. She also dated "Strictly Come Dancing" professional Anton du Beke. In August 2012, she announced her engagement to media lawyer Mark Lewis, whom she married on 9 March 2013.

She enjoys films, music and running, and participated in her first marathon, the London Marathon, in 2005.
