Ewald-Heinrich von Kleist-Schmenzin was an officer in the Wehrmacht from 1940-1944.[citation needed]

Post WWII

Ewald-Heinrich von Kleist-Schmenzin founded the Munich Security Conference. In an article honoring his 90th birthday in July 2012, the Süddeutsche Zeitung called him an “active-pragmatic pacifist”.
