In some cases, editors insert information that doesn't obviously appear in any of the sources they're quoting.

In which case, other editors are invited to either remove the affected passages that cannot be referenced or challenge the un-referenced information by putting a {{fact}} notification in an appropriate place in the editing window. The notification inserted then appears like this: ^{[citation needed]} in the published article.

This page lists all those article where this warning appears and editors are invited to contribute the missing reference, or, if the information is "surprising" and dubious, to delete it.
